Friday the 13th Stress Relief

Friday the 13th Stress Relief

One of my most favorite stress relievers of all time for me is a good movie night. I get to enjoy with Friday the 13th coming up, combining my favorite stress reliever with my favorite movie genre, horror! Nothing like a jump scare to put your mind at ease… right? I put together a list of 13 of some of my favorite scary movies you should watch this Friday.

  1. Hush (2016) – This gem is available to stream on Netflix if you’re like me and have an extreme addiction to Netflix and several other streaming apps. I was pleasantly surprised at how good and suspenseful this movie was! It will have you on your toes the entire time!
  1. Night of the Living Dead (1968) – Talk about a classic! I believe it’s on Starz if you have a subscription, otherwise you can find it on DVD in a thrift store like I did! Pretty sure this movie is one of the originals that started my LOVE for the Horror genre, and all things zombie.
  1. Midsommar (2019) – This newer movie will take you for one wild ride! My jaw was on the floor for 75% of this movie, and I’ve seen a lot of surprising movies. This is definitely a special one! It’s also available to stream on Prime Video if you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber!
  1. Carrie (1976) – Another classic! One of the all-time best horror films! The original is where it’s at, although the 2013 remake is pretty good as well!
  1. Final Destination (2000) – I feel like everyone has gone through a phase where they’ve feared airplanes, log trucks, and rollercoasters thanks to this movie saga! The first of the series is where you should start, but my favorite is definitely the 2nd. Luckily, both are on Netflix now, as well as the 3rd installment and The Final Destination.
  1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974 or 2003) – I love BOTH of these movies. I cannot pick a better. I’m a classics lover, but the reboot in 2003 was terrifyingly awesome to me! Just watch both!
  1. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) – Who doesn’t love to be terrified by Freddy Krueger?! I remember watching this growing up and it was always a family staple horror movie. Last time I checked, you can stream this for free on Vudu!
  1. Children of the Corn (1984) – Another classic that has made me quietly fear corn fields for years. Stream it on Hulu!
  1. A Quiet Place (2018) – I’m so excited for the sequel coming out this year, that I had to add this beauty to the list! It’s become an addition to my mind’s library of seriously awesome horror movies! You can stream this one on Hulu as well!
  1. The Descent & The Descent: Part 2 (2006 & 2010) – I had to list these two movies because they go great together. The Descent is one of the most underrated horror films I’ve ever seen, in my opinion. I still remember being genuinely terrified the first time I saw this movie! It’s a must see, and you can stream it on Hulu!
  1. Scream (1996) – As a modern classic that was acclaimed to revitalize the slasher film craze, Scream is probably my FAVORITE Horror saga of all-time. Seriously. I’ve seen all 4 installments more times than I can count. I think it should be required for everyone to watch these cinematic masterpieces. I’m probably crazy, I know, but they’re just SO good!
  1. Leprechaun (1993) – With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, I could NOT leave off this hilarious, but creepy movie! Sure, it’s a funny concept, but I’ll watch anything with Jennifer Aniston!
  1. Friday the 13th (1980) – OF COURSE! You can’t NOT watch Friday the 13th ON Friday the 13th! I’m sure you won’t have a hard time finding it on cable, considering I feel like they do a marathon of all the movies every time there’s a Friday the 13th. Which is awesome, because you get to watch another absolute classic horror movie!
